It all started from a Hashtag

Hi Friends!

My art has always been something I held dear to my heart and I shared with very few people. I never thought I was good enough and didn't know if anyone would appreciate it or love it as much as I did. I always reference the quote from Erykah Badu " I'm an artist, and I'm sensitive about my πŸ’©". So true!

I've tried selling my other crafts that I dabble in, jewelry and paper cards; but that wasn't my true calling. Yes I still love doing those hobbies, but painting is what I have a passion for. I literally can get lost on the canvas, making layers and layers to give the visual effect and texture on a piece.  I love the smell of paint, the sound it makes when its running out in the tube, and the sound of the brush against the canvas. I love how my work gives me a chance to express whatever I want. No matter my mood, my experience, or my dream.

I had a conversation with my cousin, Diandra, and she told me something that stuck with me. She said "I know you like your jewelry, but I think you're only doing it because you're scared of doing what you really love." DAMN. 😳 That right there shook me. And it wasn't long after that, that I kept getting affirmations all over the place. A tarot card reading in New Orleans, "Focus on your art". My wonderful life coach Ashley Young of Fablife31.com, reading her book Glow Through It. Her words spoke to me about stepping out on fate and not letting fear get in your way. The encouragement I got from my friends and family. Everything was pointing in the direction of my passion.

I went full speed ahead, I decided to post my work on my site on April 28, 2018. A few short months later I contacted by a representative at RAW Artists. I was shocked, he told me he found me from a hashtag! Who would of thought social media marketing would work! Lol πŸ˜†And before I knew it, I was getting invited to additional showcases.

I'm so thankful and blessed to have the opportunity to share my art with the world. I hope this gives anyone encouragement in chasing after their dreams. I'm just beginning but I'm so thankful πŸ™πŸΎfor what is coming my way.
